Astrid also even co-edited a book on vintage paperbacks called "Sin-A-Rama" of which 75% of the picture shown are actual paperbacks from our massive collection! My goal in making these creations is to come up with wicked designs that you would never find in a regular store and is truly DIY and not mass produced. Because I collect vintage popular culture, I know what to create because I make things that I wear myself and am proud to have created! I am also in love with lowbrow art (aka the pop surrealism movement) and my home is a litteral art gallery, floor to ceiling art to whet any hepcat's palate! What a Body...Victorian Medical & Anatomy Items from Sweetheartsinner

Here at Sweetheartsinner I've frequently taken inspiration from esoteric relics of the past. And what better inspiration than antique medical and anatomical imagery, particularly from the Victorian era? Antique images of skeletons, hearts, the human body. Not to mention "Siamese twins"!

It's hard to describe what attracts me to this imagery. Is it the macabre nature of the works? Is it the now outdated understanding of medicine...the quackery of the time? It's probably a little bit of both. What I do know is that I enjoy sharing what inspires me.

Zombies & Pin-Ups, Oh My!...Zombie Pin-Ups from Sweetheartsinner

Over at Sweetheartsinner, I came across a major problem a few years ago. I loved retro pin-ups. I loved zombies. But how could I choose between the two? What was a gal to do?

Have her brains and eat them too, of course!

And that's when I started making...zombie pin-ups! Yes, the glamorous world of the pin-up could join up with the decaying world of the zombie to produce this fracktacular union. Yes, pin-ups could be zombies!

They could still have their beautiful coiffed hairdos. They could still have killer, curvy bods. They'd just be decaying a bit. No biggie!

Owl I Know Is... Owl Inspired Jewelry from Sweetheartsinner Creations

Owls first became really popular in the 1970's-- we all remember owl items in our grandmothers' houses growing up. Remember the macrame hanging owls and ceramic owl cookie jars? I know I do! And of course, the kitsch factor was high, and earth-tones like rust orange and brown were all the rage.

Over the past few years, owls have made a major comeback. Designers are incorporating these regal birds into their handmade goods. At Sweetheartsinner Creations, we've paid homage to the owl in both kitschy and more "serious" designs.
