Vintage paperbacks with Politically Incorrect titles and blurbs!

The forties and fifties produced many vintage books with less than politically correct themes and titles. They were a product of their times. Here are a few from our private collection!

 

The Worst Sci Fi Book Ever Written! The Troglodytes by Nal Rafcam

The Troglodytes by Nal Rafcam. Digit 1962. Cover artist unknown.

Undoubtedly pseudonymous author of the imaginatively unremarkable sf novel The Troglodytes, or Dwellers of the Deep (1961). The eponymous Lost Race of Aliens is discovered under Antarctica; they cause much worldwide mayhem before conveniently destroying themselves. The writing style, dense with malapropisms that suggest unskilled use of a thesaurus, closely resembles that of Graeme de Timms. It is probable that Rafcam and De Timms were pseudonyms of the same unidentified craptacular writer.

Which Lesbians Prefer Males? Vintage lesbian Pulp fiction sleaze paperback!

This 1960's era book asks the important social question....Which Lesbians Prefer Males?

 

 

 

This features cover art by Bill Edwards, who was a rodeo and film star as well as noted artist! He specialized in Western art but did cover art for many paperbacks in the 1960's. Here is one of the more racy titles from the Sixties.  It features a sexy brunette being spanked by a guy presumably because she is a lesbian. Accordingly, the artist and author believe that those lesbians that prefer males must be spanked to get them "straight".

 

While these books are not at all politically correct or sensitive, they are "campy" and fun in their own way. The obvious answer to the question posed is "NONE!" Lesbian paperbacks are fun to collect for their campy covers and taglines! They can be very valuable, make awesome displays, and are great cultural artifacts. Titles can be found on ebay for anywhere from $10 to $100 each.

ORIGINAL Rare 1950s Vintage Issue of Presenting Bettie Page At Home Magazine. Circa 1955 but not dated. 30 GLOSSY pages. Published by Burmel. Betty Page was one of the world's most famous pinup models. I consider the classic Kitten with a Whip pose to be one of the most iconic images ever made.

 

"Whether she’s sleeping in a sheet, pouring a cocktail, adjusting her nylons, or tuning the TV set, Miss Bettie is all smiles in Presenting Bettie Page at Home, Number 5." The legendary pinup model shows off her pretty legs in fishnets, long sheer stockings held in place by garters, and shiny black pumps with six-inch heels. She’s also seen in a black dress, sandals, mules and lingerie.

Satanists use a pentagram with two points up, often inscribed in a double circle, with the head of a goat inside the pentagram. This is referred to as the Sigil of Baphomet. They use it much the same way as the Pythagoreans, as Tartaros literally translates from Greek as a "Pit" or "Void" in Christian terminology (the word is used as such in the Bible, referring to the place where the fallen angels are fettered). The Pythagorean Greek letters are most often replaced by the Hebrew letters לויתן forming the name Leviathan.
