Abraham Grace Merritt was better known as A.A. Merritt. During the 1910's through the 1930's, he wrote several classic horror/fantasy/science fiction books with a pop of supernatural flair. While working as an assistant editor for the American Weekly Magazine, he hired the now famed artists Virgil Finlay and Hannes Bok, who are two of the most well known and talented artists whose art grace many pulp magazines of the era. Merritt was also a journalist and had many interesting hobbies, which informed his writing. His writing have lost civilizations, hideous monsters, and a aura of suspense and the fantastic and his works inspired the likes of H.P. Lovecraft.
